I got to know Murray at Delbrook High, we played with and against each other in Gordon Sturtridge Football.  Other than Harry Jerome, he was probably the fastest player in the league and I remember he held some scoring records.  We also used to sneak into the Capilano Winter Club to play hockey along with Pete Baker and Peter Allan (who was the only member).  Last time I saw Murr-Eye as we used to call him, was up at Whistler in my old skiing days.  A funny character, just ask Ken Hick who could tell some stories. RIP Buddy!

Murray, was the fastest guy on our football team at Delbrook in the early years. Although, we didn't win many games he was our secret weapon and got the ball as often as we could give it to him . Murray, went on the play rugby for the West Van Barbs and football for the North Shore Cougars and was always a threat to score!! Remember Murray used to visit the BIG O  from time to time and answered phone calls when they announced over the PA..call for Bela Lugosi!  Always a good friend through the years after high school..we'll miss you.

I left for California immediately after graduation. I was able to keep in touch with Ray Downey, Pete Baker, Frank Hawrychuck and Murray. I met Murray at Marine Publishing and would go to lunch. My family had the opportunity spend a few evenings with Murray and Ronnie. I remember our baseball teams. Ray Downey, Hardef Teja, Bill Wilcox, Dave Empey, Ken Hicks, Richie McRae, Pete Baker and of course Murray. Probably the best athlete of the Group and a great friend

Memories!  I ran into Murray a few times while skiing at Whistler.  Imagine slowly shuffling in a huge lineup to get on a chair and a cry from nearby -----Nelly !!! as I was sometimes known.  It was always good to see him.
