Richard was my best friend from the time I moved to North Van in 1955 and entered Grade 8 at Hamilton, right through to when I graduated from UBC in 1964 and moved away from home. Richard was a kind and gentle soul. I can't remember him ever losing his temper.

While doing some genealogical research today, I decided to see if I could find out what happened to him. It turns out that data up to and including 1997 are now available on the Royal BC Museum genealogical archive website. Richard passed away in North Van on July 4, 1997, due to bronchopneumonia as a complication of malignant lymphoma.

I miss you, my friend, but I will sleep easier knowing what happened. Rest in peace.
