Just noticed an obituary in the Sun on Wednesday on my close school friend Ron Whittle who passed away on April 20th. There will be a CELEBRATION of life at the TERMINAL PUB in NEW WESTMINSTER BC on TUES MAY 2ND from 2 to 5 pm.
Ron was a good friend & ran or owned various SERVICE STATIONS & Car shops around New West along with the CASSIDY INN in NRANAIMO.. My thoughts on Ron go back to his (I believe) winning DELBROOKS first "TURKEY TROTT in 59( I think) back when running 5 or 10 Ks was quite a novelty.as was our infamous "WORM STOMP'! Ron was also the KINGPIN for a few of us investing our time and questionable driving skills in a34 FORD COUPE stock car which we raced out at the HANEY SPEEDWAY! Ron spent many many hours keeping that car tuned up & repairing the damage a couple of us had often caused the week before! I've many great memories of our sometimes nefarious escapades but always great times together & he'll be missed.

Very sad to hear about Ron. He sat behind me in all those classes where we were seated alphabetically, and we were both in that Turkey Trot race. Really nice guy.

Wonderful picture from the yearbook. Of course I remember him. Shy and sweet. I wish I had known him better. Thanks for posting Ron's picture, Steve. Lou

Thanks for sending that picture - I remember him - he was a really nice fellow very quiet. It is sad how many of our classmates that we have lost but I guess at our age it happens.
